So here's the deal...

I tried this whole "separate blog just for crafts" thing and it's driving me nuts.

That means that I am

and moving it all over to my personal blog

I usually blog about my everyday life over there, but since I'm demolishing apple inspired, the tutorials, ideas and crafty projects will all be displayed there as well.

Yes, there is a new etsy shop in the works with some new frames, mini journals, and even a few vintage finds. I will be posting it all soon, but for now, become a follower of Seeker of Happiness because there may or may not be a giveaway in the next couple of days to celebrate my new and improved etsy shop.

Thank you everyone! See you at

Closed Until August

Okay, I know this post is kind of redundant seeing as I haven't posted since May 12, but I just want to let everyone know that this little craft blog is going to be closed until August 2010. I still create a little everyday, but school is overtaking my life. Since I want to be good social worker, it's important that I focus on that.

So here's to August 1, 2010: When my etsy shop and this blog will be totally updated!
Meanwhile, you can hear my musings at my personal blog here.

Mom's Day Gift

I know it's been a couple of days since Mother's Day, but I realized I forgot to post what I made for my madre:
It's for her desk. Last time I was home, she didn't have any pictures of us on her desk at work, so I thought I'd make this for her so she can never get away from home!
I feel bad that my sister is hidden though, so I took this picture too:

Custom Frames

These are my VERY FIRST custom made picture frames!

The first was inspired by West Side Story:

And the second was inspired by Wicked:

The picture of the Wicked frame doesn't do it justice AT ALL. It's probably the hightest quality frame I've made.
These were so much fun to make, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to update my etsy shop with some more Broadway frames.
(If you would like your own custom made picture frames, just visit my shop and and click "request custom item")
ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NOTE: Panache is giving away a FREE pair of jeans!

Feeling a little overwhelmed

I'm sad that there are so many new readers here right when school started and I my plate all of the sudden got really full... it's hard to balance school projects with crafty projects.
I've also been thinking about where I'd like this blog to go. I originally started it with the intention of posting my crafty-creations so I could remember them and show close family and friends. And then all of the sudden I became concerned with whether or not people I didn't even know would "like" my blog. Since when do I care? Therefore, I make no promises of tutorials and crafts that I don't really want to do just so that people will read this.

We're back to the original. I have some fun things coming up that I would love to share, including:

(Items in red = done)

My very first custom order picture frames

A purse I'm making for my mom

A handmade guest book for my friends wedding

An art journal of spring/summer 2010

Custom made mini journals

A mother's day gift for my mom

Winning giveaways makes me smile

Woo-hoo! I just stumbled upon Kim's AWESOME blog, and I'm kind of in love with it.
Go check it out.

Right now.

When I was poking around, I entered a giveaway for this bag:

And I won!
A bunch of my friends just went to NYC and there's pictures from the garment district everywhere that make me jealous. But now I can pretend I'm some hip fashion designer from New York instead of an aspiring social worker from Idaho.
I mean, come on. I make one meeeean fat quarter apron... :/

She used my profile picture to announce the winner, and I realized that my picture is from my wedding.

I'm kind of embarrassed by how cheesy that is...

Fat Quarter Apron Sort-of Tutorial?

I am so freaking bad at sewing.
Really though.
All I wanted to do was make an apron.
After staying up way too late, all I got was this:

So I went to bed, feeling like a rotten apple.
A rotten apple that fell from a tree that can sew really, really well.
The next day, I was looking through some fabric and found a few fat quarter squares and thought:
"Hey! That would make a great half apron!"
So I present to you the:
Most of you can probably make this in 10 minutes, but having no pattern or idea what I was doing, this number took me like an hour. I call this a sort-of tutorial because I didn't take a whole lot of pictures, so hopefully You can understand what I'm trying to say...
You will need:
One Fat Quarter piece of fabric (18"x 21")
Two 4"x 23" strips of fabric
Two 4" x 46" strips of fabric
Iron the long sides of your fat quarter square in about 1/2" and sew
(so that the edges are not rough)
Next, iron your strips of fabric in half, then iron each side in about 1/4"
With the right sides facing together, sew one end of a long fabric strip to one end of a short fabric strip.
Sew the other long fabric strip to the other end of the same short strip
You should have one mega-long strip like this:
(This is the part where I wish I had pictures...)
Place the top of your fat quarter in the middle crease of the short strip and fold it over
Fold the rest of the mega-strip over and pin
Place the bottom of your fat quarter in the middle crease of the other short strip and fold it over and pin down.
Stitch everything down.
Did that make sense?
